Things to Know
Language & Currency
Costa Rica’s official language is Spanish, but English is universally spoken. The unit of currency is the colón, however the US dollar is widely accepted along with all major credit cards. Visa and Mastercard are the preferred methods of payment.
Weather
Costa Rica is warm all year round. Our ‘green’ season lasts between May and November and the dry season lasts from December to April. In the rainy season and occasionally during the dry season, we experience heavy downpours for a few hours. Costa Rica is also located below the hurricane belt.
Marina Flamingo Weather
Customs Information
Marina Flamingo features an onsite customs and immigration office for your convenience.
Upon your arrival, a marina staff member will contact the Harbormaster who will arrive to your vessel with the official documents necessary for clearance into the country.
Those reaching the port of entry after closing hours are required to raise a quarantine flag and report in the next morning.
In order to clear in and out of the Costa Rican Immigration Office and to request an Exit Zarpe from the Harbormaster, you will need two (2) copies of each of the following:
- Vessel registration documents
- Vessel clearance documentation from the last port of call
- Two (2) copies of passenger/crew list (total of four (4) copies)
- Passports of all crew and guests and Costa Rica Entry Stamp
- Proof of Insurance
- Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard)
- Navigation Permit (Cruising Permit)
